Metabo HPT C10FCGS vs C10FCG
Recently, Metabo HPT released the Metabo HPT C10FCGSmiter saw. It is the upgraded version of the popular C10FCG that I had just purchased.
I have always been a fan of the brand, even when they were named Hitachi Power Tools. I was curious to know what exactly were the changes and upgrades that the manufacturer made to the newer model.
After going through the specifications and features of the new product, I realized that the company had made some minor changes that were not too easy to notice at first.
Therefore, I thought it would be a good idea if I made a detailed comparison between both the products. This will help you understand the differences better, giving you a clearer picture of which product meets your requirements.
Miter saws are specialized power tools that consist of a spinning circular blade that sits on a pivot arm. The blade can also be tilted, giving users the ability to make cross cuts, angled cuts, bevel cuts, and compound cuts using a single machine. This saw is used by many professionals with a need for such types of cuts.
Formerly known as Hitachi Power Tools, Metabo HPT first released the C10FCG miter saw. In recent times, they released C10FCGS which had a few changes. The main specifications of both the products are listed below for a quick reference.
As you might have noticed, there are very small differences in the comparison table. Do read on as I brief you individually about the major features of both the products, before discussing the differences at length.
Metabo HPT C10FCG Review
The Metabo HPT C10FCG was first introduced in the market as an entry-level miter saw. This product gave users the advantage of making angled cuts, bevel cuts, and compound cuts easily using a single saw.
The saw consists of a silver and grey frame, with a green color blade guard housing the circular saw within. This model has a corded power supply that can be connected to a regular 120V supply outlet.
On purchasing a new product, users are also provided with 24 teeth TCT saw blade, a dust bag, a vise assembly, a hex bar wrench, and a holder. The product is also covered by Metabo HPT’s 5-year warranty. It is discontinued, but there are some sellers selling it on Amazon, and you can buy it from there. (Click here to go to the Amazon page)
- Blade and crosscut capacity
This saw comes with a 10” blade that has 24 teeth and is made of tungsten with carbide tips (TCT). The blades have a 5/8” bore to slot into the saw.
When it comes to angles, the blade has a miter facility which allows it to be moved to a maximum of 52° to the right and the left. It has positive stops at 0°, 15° 22.5°, 31.6°, and 45° for quick adjustments.
The blade can be tilted up to 45° to the left. It can be combined to make compound cuts with a maximum bevel of 45° and a maximum tilt of 45° at once.
- Motor and power output
The C10FCG comes with a 15 amp electric motor. It delivers a 1950 W of output power, with the input being supplied from a regular electric socket of 120V rating through a 6 ft cord. The motor is quite powerful and can spin the blade to a maximum speed of 5000 RPM under no-load conditions.
Thanks to its inbuilt power, the motor can cut through most types of woods with ease, with the default blade itself. It is also lightweight and ensures that it can be carried around easily.
- Dust extraction
The C10FCG comes with a dust bag when purchased. The dust bag attaches behind the blade, collecting the dust produced from the sawing operation. In addition to this, one can also connect a vacuum through the dust port facility provided by the manufacturer.
This will improve the dust collection capabilities of the machine, allowing you to maintain the cleanliness of your surroundings easily.
- Safety
The C10FCG comes with a plastic blade guard that prevents the limbs of the operator from coming in contact with the spinning blade. It also has a side handle that gives the user a secondary position to grip the machine firmly while operating it. This improves the user’s stability while ensuring that their hands are safely away from the blade.
- Fence and material support
The C10FCG has a large working table that allows users to keep large workpieces that need to be cut comfortably. This provides better stability and precision during the cutting process.
It comes with a fence that allows users to make precise cuts. The fence is also easily adjustable to facilitate the efficient and quick operation of the saw.
This miter saw also comes with vice grips that ensure that users can clamp down the workpieces firmly onto the table. This ensures that the piece doesn’t move around during the cutting process, helping maintain the accuracy of the cuts.
Metabo HPT C10FCGS Review
Metabo HPT has always been known for constantly improving on products to provide customers with a great experience. This legacy of innovation led to the launch of the C10FCGS.
Being an entry-level miter saw, the product offered similar features to its predecessor, allowing users to use it for the specialized angle, bevel, and compound cuts.

Keeping in line with previous external designs, the saw has a silver and grey frame, with the circular blade being housed under the noticeable green blade guard. Users can connect the product to a regular 120V supply outlet, which then sends input power through an 8ft cord.
Similar to its predecessor, users get a 24 teeth TCT saw blade, a dust bag, a vise assembly, a hex bar wrench, and a holder on purchasing a new product. The C10FCGS is also provided with a 5-year warranty by Metabo HPT.
We have made a detailed Metabo HPT C10FCGS miter Saw review, and mention all the good and bad things about this saw there.
- Blade and crosscut capacity
The saw has a 10” blade capacity with a 5/8” bore to slot into the saw. The blade provided while purchasing a new product has 24 teeth and is made of tungsten with carbide tips (TCT).

The blade can be mitered to a maximum 52° to the right and the left thanks to its pivoting arm. It has positive stops at 0°, 15° 22.5°, 31.6°, and 45° for quick adjustments.
The blade can also be tilted up to 45° to the left. Combining with the miter option on this saw, users can make specialized compound cuts with a 45° mitering and 45° tilt capacity together.
- Motor and power output
A 15 amp electric motor powers the C10FCGS. The input is given to the motor from a regular electric socket of 120V using an 8 ft cord, with a total output wattage of 1950 W. This high output power makes the motor very powerful, allowing it to spin the blade to a maximum speed of 5000 RPM
This makes this miter saw from Metabo HPT more than capable of cutting through most types of woods with ease. Despite its powerful motor, the design is lightweight, making it easy to carry around.

The main difference between the Metabo HPT C10FCGS and Metabo HPT C10FCG is that the more recent C10FCGS meets updated UL regulations.
The Underwriter Laboratories is a safety certification company that issues safety standards for electrical appliances. They constantly update their safety guidelines, which forces manufacturers to update existing products to meet this criterion.
Metabo HPT released the Metabo HPT C10FCGS to meet this criterion, having more or less the same features from the previous C10FCG model while offering better safety to users which meet recent international standards.
- Length of cord
The cord provided in the C10FCG is 6ft long, while the C10FCGS has an 8ft long power cord.
As a result, the newer C10FCGS has an improved range, which makes it ideal for job sites that require frequent shifting of the saw. The longer cable will allow the operator to use the saw across the site without worrying too much about a lack of power supply outlets.
- Weight
